Shiny...Happy...People...Holding Hands

First & Foremost RIP to Coretta Scott King (1927-2006)
How about for once we really attempt to honor and respect a "legacy", that dosen't require parading around the rich and famous or mass media coverage of something as solemn as funeral proceedings like it's the damn Super Bowl only a bit longer.

The talk is was such a fitting tribute? and the President stop by and paid respects? like they didn't have a damn agenda? sometime my people are too funny for words? really how about we would have taking 1/2 the cost of that service or President's motorcade and put that into the inner city schools that struggle with math & science programs and those young minds grow to carry on the legacy?

I bet based on what I know of her she would have thought that fitting? Instead of flocking to the tv to see the who's... who (Oprah, Stevie, etc)at the funeral could have use that time to read & anaylize material and maybe get a better understanding of just where the movement that King so champion has faltered modern day. So again my highest respect to all that have allowed me to advance... I say thank you but still a long ass way to go!

How about we become just as moved and saddend by the passing of every man, woman, & child to sensless violence here in the USA, equally or with the same vigor we do icons

How about you preachers(TD JAKES, Long, pimps)who step off the plane all cozy with Bush remind him that he can best honor "King's" legacy by stopping this senseless Weapons of Mass destruction War..oh wait it's the Search for Bin Laden...wait it's Liberate Iraq War now.

How about I disagree with Kayne West, George W does not hate black people, now I am not saying he is a GOLD DIGGER he just ain't fucking with no BROKE NIGGERS!

How about we don't forget the memory of Betty Shabazz (1936-1997) Activist

How about it's not unpatriotic to oppose WAR, hell we live in a country where each and every President has one thing in common? (Anglo-Saxon)
How about the next corny ass MC who glorifies drug sales the FED's bust your ass quicker than a Rodney King melee!
How about they should run an ad in the paper everyday, so that we don't forget that Jeffrey Dahmer was actually eating folks? WTF
How about these are about to be my next purchase sneaker-wise #342
How about if one more person who sees me in passing says "You don't dress like a Professor"....wait how about we end this because my MGT 404 class began 10 minutes ago :)

How about this was a really true and inspiring post? How about we remember that there are brothers and fathers and mothers and cousins dying in Iraq? How about we keep in the forefront of our minds that the AIDS epidemic is sweeping through our country of origin? How about we don't forget Malcolm X and the trials he faced instead of just screening him on T-shirts and posters? How about we remember that Jeffrey Dahmer was not only eating folks, he was eating mostly black gay men?? How about we stop being so fascinated with Whitney and Bobby and Flav and really see the underlining messages of ignorance personified? How about that Kroger watch? lol *wink*

How about I think Coretta did a great job upholding her husband' legacy as well as creating her own?

How about I think the Diplomats are wack too, but I think Jim Jones is kinda cute?

How about I wish my professors dressed more casual, reflecting me? It would have been easier to relate.

So on point...but you have to recognize your audience. If it had been anything but a celebrity fashion show, no one would be watching...including CNN. Shit, they couldnt even attract the attention of bling-lovin BET! I hope to God that there were classroom's around the country led by conscientious teacher opening a dialogue about the legacy. But somehow, in the world where there are no books, I doubt there is cable.

I think its "Operation Iraqi Freedom." I HATED the political posturing. I told this girl at work yesterday, "PLEASE!! If I become a civil rights activist and they take my body on parade... make them change my clothes." WTF?? That can't possibly be any more absurd than all this nonsense. I love Malcolm X. Its amazing (see disgusting) the people who are acceptable to our image of the civil rights movement.

and no, you don't dress like a professor.

RIP to Mrs. King.

There were quite a few individuals with hidden adgenda speaking at the funeral and I'm not just talking about the presidents either! It was not the time nor the place for some of their messages.

Good post, K88... you said the darn thing...

Really, though.

I watched the whole thing on TV here in the ATL...I too thought that it was all a bit excessive... And the King children... have they been able to privately mourn their mother's death without the media spotlight?

Damn.

Again, good post.

Great post. I was so pissed about how the people acted at Coretta's funeral by the way. I am no Bush supporter by all means but why would people use this woman's funeral as a way to debate with the President? I've never seen something so disrespectful. It just goes to show what this world is coming to. I have a lot of " How Abouts " by the way but I would probably take up all the space on Blogger if I listed them.

@ladydee yeah I agree with you on that the we have as a society become to prvy to private matters of others just because there is media access.

@goddess rock on my sister

@princess dominique look forward to that and always a pleasure

@stacy-deanne hey would love to hear some of yours one day, you have to post them.
