Hey but the fun dosen't stop there right, those NFL executives no how to pump a cause right? even if facts show otherwise, let's examine Pat Tillman former Arizonal Cardinal DB. the Arizona Cardinals defensive back who famously volunteered for the Army in the spring after 9/11, giving up a $3.6 million N.F.L. contract extension. Tillman wanted to pay something back to his country by pursuing the enemy that actually attacked it, Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda. Instead he was sent to fight a war in Iraq that he didn't see coming when he enlisted because the administration was still hatching it in secret. Only on a second tour of duty was he finally sent into Taliban strongholds in Afghanistan, where, on April 22, 2004, he was killed. On April 30, an official Army press release announcing his Silver Star citation filled in vivid details of his last battle. Tillman, it said, was storming a hill to take out the enemy, even as he "personally provided suppressive fire with an M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon machine gun."

Pat Tillman's case is itself a replay of the fake "Rambo" escapades ascribed to Pfc. Jessica Lynch a year earlier, just when Operation Iraqi Freedom showed the first tentative signs of trouble and the Pentagon needed a feel-good distraction. As if to echo Mary Tillman, Ms. Lynch told Time magazine this year, "I was used as a symbol." But the troops aren't just used as symbols for the commander in chief's political purposes. Happy 20th Anniversary to the Discovery Channel, with the exception of A & E and Cartoon Network Adult Swim, my tv stays pretty much position on this channel. Here are some of the following shows I enjoy bit for less than obvious reasons.

1. Dirty Jobs
Stuck in a dead-end job? Daydreaming about a new career? Combing through the classifieds for your next calling? Well, what about these jobs?

This show is appealing because although I don’t know any “merkats” personally they act a lot like folks I inter act with on a daily basis, a sort of hmmmm N-word appeal to their antics I would say reminds me a lot of that behaviour pattern In light of the breakthrough of these series would like to offer one up from a new series created by me

Hood Rats

I like this show but for the morbid reason of wanting to see this Jeff “bite” it and this carried over to just about everything I watch on television from Cops which I always root for the bad guy and sports which I hate all other teams except New York…wait Hate the Mets and the Jets but I am from Brooklyn.

BRISBANE, Australia (CNN) -- Videotape of Australian "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin shows him pulling a deadly stingray barb from his chest just before he died. Irwin's manager John Stainton said Irwin was being videotaped diving on a reef off

Australia's northeast coast for a television show.
He told Australia's Network 10 that Irwin managed to pull the barb out of his chest but said it was too late, as the poison had already entered his body.

Irwin went into cardiac arrest within moments, news reports said.
Stainton described the footage of his friend dying as "terrible and shocking"

Shocking????? I beg to differ a shock would be him dying in his sleep or something of that nature, this is well expected that his crazy ass would bite the bullet in this or a similar fashion.

LOS ANGELES - Get ready for a segregated "Survivor." Race will matter on the upcoming season of the CBS show as contestants will be divided into four tribes by ethnicity. That means blacks, whites, Latinos and Asians in separate groupsThe announcement was made on CBS' Early Show. Host Jeff Probst says the idea "actually came from the criticism that 'Survivor' was not ethnically diverse enough." He says the twist fits in perfectly with what "Survivor" does, saying the show is "a social experiment. And this is adding another layer to that experiment." Probst says contestants had mixed reactions to the racial divisions.

Ok what’s the new spin on this really? All reality based shows already “overstate” the obvious we normally stick to our own kind when you cut through the BS. Examine the MTV successful longest running “Real World” where folks stop acting and start getting real?? YEAH right where every season the one or two minorities are usually out of place in a house full of drunk Anglo-Saxons. Hey face it at the end of the day we are usually drawn to those who resemble us in my opinion, I laugh when people exclaim that they don’t see color first? WTF for me and I consider myself of reasonable intelligence but I see your ethnic make-up first, now that said I don’t draw any biased from it but I have yet to see a colorless face on my travels.

One of my favorite all time classic shows happens to pit groups vs groups but all in the chance to win prize money, "Family Feud" was one of the most successful game shows launched in the 1970's. Mark Goodson came up with the idea for "Family Feud" from one of his other hit game shows, "Match Game." The "audience match" round of "Match Game" featured panelist Richard Dawson and a contestant trying to match the correct response to an audience survey. The segment became a huge hit with audiences and soon the survey, Richard Dawson and the "Family Feud" were on the air.

I can recall as a youth my mother (RIP) brought the board game and encouraged the kids from the neighborhood to play, my first indication that COLLEGE was a must do on my list! While that was years ago still remember one David Wilson on my team and some of his answers as follow (bear in mind David was an 8th grader)

Despite the incriminating statements Karr made to reporters and law enforcement officials in Bangkok last week, questions have surfaced as to whether the slight, soft-spoken schoolteacher could have been involved in the grisly killing of Jon Benet.

Karr's immediate family strongly believes he had no involvement in the young girl's murder, according to family spokesman and attorney Gary Harris in Clayton, Georgia.
Harris, who is not representing John Karr, told CNN in a phone interview that family members do not remember Karr ever missing a Christmas gathering prior to his 2001 estrangement from them.

I would like to thank the folks at BET for making my Wednesday nights TV viewing pleasure at its finest.

DMX – SOUL OF A MAN (Wednesday 9:30pm) – First off you know any show that has to use sub-caption for me to understand the speaker and it’s not on Uni-vision is going to be special? WTF. I find this show amusing not for the premise of good vs. evil struggle that dwells in my buddy Earl (X) but for the constant attempt by all acquainted with him to suggest the world is crazy and not crack that makes his grown ass insist on stopping for egg sandwiches wee hours of the morning, while wasting precious studio time.

Tashera Simmons – The devoted wife and self described “bestest” friend by DMX, will not take any shots at her she is after all married to DMX right.

Then there is his entourage (not as witty as the HBO cats)and they all seem to have official titles when giving face time there is Grandpa Pezee (executive assistant) ?WTF if you spend most the day in a wife-beater and smoking blunts following behind a guy and living in his crib, you are a FLUNKEE not a freaking assistant.

Ali Simmons – road manager but seems to be the go to guy when X rides one of his 30 automobiles (old 64’s etc) on the no paved Arizona roads and catches a flat every single time? Get a clue or a pick up truck dumb azz!

DMX splits time in Arizona where they seem more tolerant of his wild ass and not sure what to make but there is an older white neighbor Buddy Wood – who seems to have a genuine affection and wisdom for Earl, and proclaims him as his only black son? WTF

Memorable moment – In the conveyance store DMX (stoned) looks in the camera and ask “What’s the best thing about now&laters(delicious candy for those of you with no hood ties)? When they in your pocket”? WTF. awwww wisdom from a guy who still occasionally growls for no real rhyme or reason.

Keisha Cole – THE WAY IT IS (Wednesday 9pm) – This show while it amuses me also teaches an age old fact you can take the person out of the hood but you can’t take the hood out of Keisha Cole black azz or something like that. I am sorry if her behavior is keeping it real then from hence fore I have decided to “keep it phony!!

I enjoy her music but there has to be someone else to put a show around Latifah? Alicia Keys? Mary J? etc. The star of this show is her sister who seems to start drinking about the same time roosters start crowing and it’s non stop. She eventually makes an ass herself once getting ready to fight in the supermarket over Keisha best friend picking the wrong salad dressing for her sister to eat later? WTF. She then explains it’s only because she loves her sister and can’t be as close? Hood Rat your sister has a career and you don’t but DMX is short one flunkee, oops I mean assistant J

Memoriable moment : Preparing for a Plantuim Party she takes her sister and crew to Neiman Marcus then looks in the camera and says “I know my sister is out of her element right now”? You think? What would give that impression really? WTF

I watched the return of “Pee Wee Playhouse” (won 22 Emmy’s) last night and it boggles the mind what the attraction was for this show or self loving Paul Reubens, ? I remember going to the movies to see his big screen release but probably coheres by some chick to see that or had a bout of gayness early on but grew out of it? I just realize Phil Hartman (RIP) SNL fame, was a part of the cast but the price of admission Laurence Fishburne as Cowboy Curtis? WTF

I don’t know what the hell was going on in Hollywood at the time but going to assume, was tight to get an acting gig! LoL

HAPPY 25th Anniversary to MTV, I remember spending countless hours watching early on to see Run DMC or any black entertainer of the fledgling network, now of course fast forward 06, and they are more Black (ghetto-sense) than any other next work with shows ranging from “Yo Mama” to Real World (which seems to be the same premise angry black, gay dude, and drunk ass white folks) any way cheers to you!

NFL season is upon us so as an Atlanta resident but New York native have circled October 15th on the calendar and will be seated in the Georgia Dome when the Giants smack fire out of Vick (Ron Mexico) ass!

1. House (Fox Channel)- One question does anybody fall through his office with just a fever? runny nose? damn every time I see the preview this cat is pushing the envelope and boundaries of medicine and placing his staff in jeopardy. He is second only to Dr. Bones McCoy (Star Trek) on the over reaction scale for medical doctors.

2. 24 (Fox Channel) - Simple math 3 seasons x 24 hrs = 3 days ? WTF

3. Sportscenter (ESPN) - Damn can't turn on the show and get the scores without one of these ass-clowns trying to incorporate some "real talk" or "slang" into the segment. Glen "Get At Me Dog" Robinson drives to the basket etc... We get it already but some of us have a attention span long enough to focus without hearing a beat or needed the additional wordplay.

4. Yo Mama (MTV) - Aside from the mindless dribble they have such as Punk'd. Real World (where folks stop acting and start overacting! but this damn show. You might recognize the host Wilmer Valderrama him from his role as Fez in That 70s Show. For the record I think this cat plays up his accent to score in Hollywood he is about as latin ....hmmmm Nick Cannon is street comes to mind. THE show is a trash-talking competition with each episode crowning a winner who advances to the trash-talking finals. Valderrama will hit the streets each week in search of contestants.
The top two contestants in each episode will compete for a cash prize and the opportunity to advance in the trash-talk tournament.

Valderrama will also conduct what MTV calls "targeted home invasions" on each finalist to give his or her opponent ammunition for the competition, Can we include this over rated Latino when we are erecting new borders? just a thought

5. Hip Hop (commercial) - Can find at least 10 a day that are so wrong but in particular the Spaghetti O's where the little o's are rapping and one has on a big ass chain w/mediallion? That takes the cake!

3. The First 48 hrs - Follows real life homicide detectives in various cities, on their pursuit to solve a case in the first critical 2 days which I am told yields the greater percent to solve murders.
4. Taps - Sci-Fi channel Ghost Hunters" features Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson with other research members of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) as they investigate supernatural stories throughout the U.S.

Another spin in the time machine to take a look at a few notable first........

1. Lunchbox The Green Hornet, I actually found some a website devoted to you guessed it Lunchbox History The Green Hornet box (pictured)has Green Hornet striking a bad guy with a gun in hand.

The Green Hornet was launched on the heals of Batman, which debuted some eight months earlier. Both shows were televised on NBC. Not unlike Batman, The Green Hornet did not last long. OK time to dust off a few rare gems from the vault, a few of these will be released SPRING 2006 but I have purchased or recieved the samples early.

1. # 55 Nike Olympic 2000 Dunk's released with the Olympics are still one the hottest dunks to come out. They are blue and white with the American Flag a classic....

2. #302 Rod Laver Limited Edition Adidas Mid V2 Leather SampleThis shoe is cream/brown and actual release is spring 2006, a must have for the spring/summer next year, I usually not a fan of tampering with the classic but definitely feeling the changes to this original that adidas have done in the past year.

3. #305 Nike Air Force III, I have awaited the return of these for more than a few years for these to be re-release they were first introduce 1988-89.
These are samples they will be release spring 2006, this is the white & gray colorway.

4. # 301 Jamal Crawford Reebok (S.carter basketball shoes) Player exclusive PE. Cop these of ebay and rare because Jamal got traded to the Knicks before they could release these to the general public. This is still a very nice sneaker to my collection.

5. #299 Shawn Kemp after shok sneakers vintage 1996 back when kemp was the nba dunk machine and probably before he gain status as the poster child for dead beat dads everywhere with his upteen kids.

T.G.I.F. - A Friday stable, JC Super-Star & I thought it would be fun to quantum leap, and back to 5 first in a class of many;

#1. First mode of transportation - Huffy Green Machine Check out the dual joysticks for responsive rear wheel steering. This was my favorite, other kids were getting big wheels but deep down wanted the green machine. Found out recently that although these were introduce late 60's they make them today in adult sizes? WTF I am all for nostalgia like a lot of folks, but don't let me catch your grown ass on a big wheel ok

#2 First 10 Speed Bicycle - Sure we all had bicycles maybe 3 or 5 speed but that damn 10 speed was proof positive you arrived :) I had and all orange one, in hindsight my biggest achievement to date maybe the fact, I am NOT GAY? with all the terry cloth outfits and gaucho cut-off tough skins not too mention, I had and all orange 5 speed prior to this damn 10 speed. Thanks a lot MOM :)

#3. First automobile - Purchased this in 1984 11 grade at the time and truth told gave the dealer $9,999.00 (inform me anything over 10 grand he had to report)in a brown bag and we put it in my Aunt's name Gloria(and I secretly made monthly payments). It was a 5 speed and I didn't know how to drive a stick at the time, the salesman gave me a quick demo and I was off, at the first hill couldn't get the truck in gear and put the hazards on left that bitch on the hill, and call my man Tysean to drive it home. lol

Proof that Karma works got pulled over about a year later no license and they snatch the Jimmy, my Aunt got it out of impound and kept it because it was in her name to begin with. That will learn ya!!!

#4.First experience of Racism - All white catholic junior high school and a kid named Eric told me he had a poem to read, so in front of the kids on the playground he recites the following;

in hindsight Eric should have found some space in that tree with Mr.Boone, because I began to swing on his ass like monkey bars until pull off by the God patrol.

#5. First Blind Date (Anita the Beast)- Actually even though this is normally a rite of passage as teenagers, getting hook up on blind dates by friends, this didn't happen for me until early 20's, largely due to the fact that there was a time many moons ago, where lightskin was in demand, ahhhhh the good ole days, I remember them well.

Anyway working with this cat Rico (NationsBank) and his girlfriend had a friend (Anita) now his girl was a "dime" before the phrase was coined and my thought process was that surely all pretty girls hang out together.

I gave Rico's girl my number and spoke on the phone with Anita. We deciding to meet that following weekend and do a double date w/Rico, our phone talk was the usual amount of small talk and then we prompted to describe herself (pay very close attention) she states she is 5 ft 5 medium size and light skin.

The day arrives and Rico decides to ride along with me, since his girl was already over Anita's house, We roll up to the crib and jump out, I noticed a female on the stoop and Rico now smirking(not a good sign)walk past the woman on the front stoop and proceed to the door, Rico's girl answered the door, and with anticipation I ask where is your friend? she states you just spoke to her on the stoop? WTF? the lady I spoke to was 5ft 5 alright both ways (horizontal & vertical) and medium size if we talking pick up trucks sure, and the kicker (drumroll).... she was dark skin? now I know we all fudge our heights, weight etc but have you ever had somebody miss calculate their complexion?

Not to be a bad guy, still went along with the date, in talking before we got in the truck, notice she had missing front teeth? the girl is 22 and look like somebody hit her ass with a crab mallet right in the mouth. We decided to go grab a bite to eat and we piled into the truck.

She sits all regal and shyt on the passenger side of my truck, and I am thinking that if traffic is coming from that direction, we are in trouble because I am not looking over her way, fuck it I had good insurance :) We proceed half a block and at the light a truck similar to mine (Izusu Rodeo) pulls up with with 4 femal occupants and they shout over "you could do better"? I initially felt bad for the girl ....I said initially.

We stopped to get gas and while standing at the pump, Anita exits the truck, slowly making her way over and in broad daylight, she grabs my ass then states "usually wouldn't be her type but she is going to make it work?" WTF, I go in to pay and then motion Rico to come in the shop, I tell him to go and remove that chic or I am leaving my ride here to be towed at his cost. They decide to hike it back to her place, and later that day Rico call me to apologize. Ass Clown.

3. Education - A student enrolled at the University of Maryland College Park campus, majoring in Political Science with a minor in economics, was really looking at furthering my education in UNC Law school and become a entertainment lawyer. Earned a four year degree but learned very little in the process and ultimately deciding to forgo Law School and joined the U.S. Armed Forces.

4. After making my daily blog routine decided and discussing time travel theory with Maverick and reminiscing with Peaches n Cream. Thought I would journey back and cherish some of the the first of life moments, that we tend to never forget.

# 1 First Saturday Morning Cartoon - Jetson always imagined the good life in the 21st century and George was living proof, my job would be at the push of a button and a space car, motion sidewalks and sky high rises to boot. Then upon further review realized that according to the Jetson there are no blacks in the future? well maybe Rosie, she seemed a bit too sassy. Like Florence on the Jeffersons maybe Rosie, she was mixed heritage or something:) "Eep Op Ork!"

Really wanted to see Sequence, knew the first single from the Radio and the crush was on :) based on lyrics they were surely a "10" since artist pictures were not used on albums jackets that much I took their word for it.

Concert kicks off and much to my dismay , the girls appeared to be 5 ft 5 both vertically and horizontally and fronted by Angie B aka R & B singer Angie Stone, Still a great concert but damn rude awaken to the old saying "there is very little truth in advertising" at an early age. lol

Make matters worse my dad was old school, meaning I had to fight this kid the next day and the day after that until I get respect, by Wednesday of that week the realization set in that if he beat my ass on the previous days, safe bet this trend could continue. I simply called a truce and then pops sprung for boxing lessons. lol

The Atari 2600 is the system most people collect games for. This is likely due to more people owning a 2600 than any other classic gaming system. Back in its heyday, who didn't have an Atari? Man got pac-man for XMAS one year stayed up like a crackhead for 24 hours playing that one. Remember the simplicty if you needed to jump push red button, if you needed to punch push the red button, if you need to throw wait so much pushing the damn cheap plastic joy stick breaks right? lol

Can you hear me know? as a matter of fact asshole we all can hear you and would love for you to give the phone a rest in public places.

The biggest surprise people have when they meet me is that although an Educator and self profess “techie") I do not own a cell phone and have a bit of disdain for them truth told. While I understand that there are legitimate reasons people have them and not knocking that but here is a few that strike me as humorous for the other 50% who don’t need mobile communication.

Case #1 - The classic in “case of emergency” scenario, I get this one a lot from individuals who only mode of transportation is public i.e. bus, train, big wheel, my question becomes, if an emergency breaks out and you are called, are you going to relay the call to someone who can get there in a timely manner? it damn sure ain’t you, How you going to save the day waiting on the next bus, train, etc.

Case #2 - Riding in to work, I often see kids(I know parents need to stay in contact but you just drop them off to catch the bus and no way they are on the phone with parents most times)under the age of 10, ear to the phone around 8 am? Quick question what did your little asses do the following evening that you couldn’t wait to get to class and tell it, my biggest concern at 8 was not to piss the bed and get up early to race my siblings to the Saturday morning cereal and cartoon festival.

Interesting side note - My mom had this strange fixation of buying items in 3 different varieties, from juices, to lunch meat, etc) so we had our own signature brand of Saturday morning cartoon watching cereal.

Sibling #1 Nathan (1963-1981) R.I.P. - Count Chocula (fit because his ass was straight batty, his ambitious in life to be a damn fire truck, not a fireman but the damn truck? WTF

Franco - based on name alone my mom got me that freakin Frakenberry, I preferred the Count truth told.

Sibling #2 Sterling (1970-1994) R.I.P. - Boo-Berry (well he was gay but brilliant mind would have made one hell of a doctor)

Case #3 Single Parent (females)- who have it to keep in touch with their kids, yet can be over heard most times in malls, grocery store, etc. blabbering for hours to girlfriends, about the price of this and how much that lame cat didn’t spend on their lame ass last night. The best scenario is that when you are out with a female and her other "friend" calls, the blank stare at the cell and then "I don’t recognize that number. so not going to answer” but thought that was the whole purpose of having a cell phone for folks to reach you?

Case #4 Single Parent (males)- If T-Mobile or whomever you subscribe to could have a plan simply titled “frontin” the cost would be based on actual real use or pretend minutes that you are doing more profiling than talking, I could sign more than 75% of you cats today for that one. Your phone seems to get the all important calls, when the public perception is at an all time awareness. Example:woman are around, sporting events, and clubs, I forgot to mention please stop initiating the calls right before you enter a building, mall, etc tehn proceeding to talk loud about nothing at all. Also the cats who have multiple phones one on the belt and then talking on the other classic.lol And the ringtones damn that's a whole other blog to itself, but do you really need TI track to let you know that your phone is ringing "Wanksta"?

I have yet to purchase or own a cell phone (and no Black people nothing to do with credit) more to do with the fact that we as a society have become addicted to over usage of these so called “conveyances” in life.

I have an answering machine and have yet to go home and hear any of the following messages

Missed Call #1 - “This is Publisher Clearing House we tried to reach you about this 10 million dollar check”

Missed Call #2 - “This is (insert name here) Super Model and light skin cats are back in style but you were out when it happen and couldn’t be reached so got back with (insert name here) dark skin cat.

Worst scenario I have witnessed to date, in the Magic Johnson Cinema(Southwest Atlanta) two years ago a young lady tells her friend about the movie, problem the damn movie is in progress? force to leave and get a refund because she wouldn’t get off the phone.

Maybe if I had a cell phone could even blog this whole scenario on my own time instead of goofing off on company time….....Nope will stick Ma Bell and my residence plan.

Cesare Borgia--son to Pope Alexander Italian DUCA VALENTINO (b. c. 1475/76, probably Rome [Italy]--d. 1507, near Viana, Spain), natural son of Pope Alexander VI. He was a Renaissance captain who, as holder of the offices of duke of the Romagna and captain general of the armies of the church, enhanced the political power of his father’s papacy and tried to establish his own principality in central Italy. His policies led Machiavelli to cite him as an example of the new “Prince.”

Cesare Borgia was a man of extraordinary contrasts. Machiavelli found that he could be at times secretive and taciturn, at others loquacious and boastful. He alternated bursts of demonic activity, when he stayed up all night receiving and dispatching messengers, with moments of unaccountable sloth, when he remained in bed refusing to see anyone.

Borgia is ultimately said to be the individual portrayed in paintings, commission by the Catholic Church to show the "savages" in the new world what Jesus Christ looks like.

The Genius, aka the GZA, MC in the Wu-Tang Clan, and maybe the most acclaimed out of the Clan. The Genius was revered for his flawless technique and lyrical dexterity. His second solo album, Liquid Swords, 1995 featuring Killa Priest called B.I.B.L.E. (basic instructions before leaving earth) the song is a breakdown of various religions and doctrines.

This track actually peaked my curiosity in regards to Borgia, being of both Italian/Nigerian heritage (but not famous so unlike Tiger can't be Italnegra or can I? hmmmm) anyway if you get an opportunity, give it a good listen, My favorite track off the album.

Having seen plenty of list devoted to the greatest group or mc thought I would share Top 10 of those groups or mc's that I feel were vastly underrated in terms of contributions. I have left a few who usually get mentioned off the list Kool G Rap, Masta Ace and De La Soul.

1. Ultramagnetic MC's - Arising from the Boogie Down Bronx in the mid-'80s as a far-flung hip-hop trio with a heap of new ideas to try out, Ultramagnetic's Kool Keith, Ced Gee, and DJ Moe Love. Ultra was the first group to employ a sampler as an instrument, I remember hearing EGO Trippin in 1986 and being not only blown away by the production but lyrics as well.

Most mc's this time frame were bragging about gold chains and rides (wait same holds true today) but Ultra were on another level lyrically and note the opening diss to Run DMC in the 1986 release "EGO Trippin". I felt utimatley they were unable to capture the magic of thier first album, the following years found the group shuffling from label to label, releasing albums on Mercury and Wild Pitch before splitting to pursue various projects

2.Ed O.G. - Most noted for his signature song "Be a Father to Your Child." from his 1991's album ED OG & THA Bulldogs, "Life of A Kid in The Ghetto" which had a few noteworthy tracks, "I gotta Have It" but most remembered "Be A Farther To Your Child", a plea to men to support their children regardless of circumstance.

I have over the years become a more of a fan, his rhyme style has grown and matured lyrically since his early material. A strong effort on his last album "My Own Worst Enemy" produced by Pete Rock. My favorite cut "Sayin Somethin" from solo album "Truth Hurts" a very reflected look at life in general.

3.Mantronix - MC Tee/Bryce Luva - Over and above their standing as one of the best and most innovative groups from hip-hop's golden age, Mantronix provided rap music with its first man-machine, Kurtis Mantronik. A turntable master who incorporated synthesizers and samplers. Soon after the album "In Full Effect", MC Tee left to join the Air Force. Mantronik replaced him with Bryce Luvah (Groove theory the cousin of LL Cool J) and DJ Dee (Mantronik's cousin). Mantronik also worked as a A&R at Sleeping Bag, where he signed EPMD, produced KRS-One's first credit ("Success Is the Word" by 12:41), and helmed other intense tracks by Tricky Tee, Just-Ice, and T la Roc

Though he never found a rapper worthy of his immense production talents, MC Tee was pretty simplistic but he had his moments but mostly drowned out by Mantronix love for beat over lyrical content. I think a few maybe surprise at Bryce Luvah last seen in Latifah's Beauty Shop as the possible fruity x-con, he actually rips the mic on a few tracks that Mantronix didn't R & B out, one track that stands out on the "Incredible Sound Machine" Adjustin My Mic where is runs down the alphabet A-Z and then Flips it backwards Z-A matching wordplay throughout the track.
Mantronik inspired dozens of DJs and beatmeisters around the world during the next decade- in hip-hop, mainstream dance music, and the new electronica.

Naughty By Nature/Treach - Since the early ‘90’s, Naughty By Nature (NBN) has created chart-topping party anthems that have dominated Rap, Pop, and R&B charts, all the while staying true to hip-hop. The group exploded on the scene during the summer of 1991 with "O.P.P." and "Everything’s Gonna Be Alright" from their self-titled debut, Naughty by Nature. Their second album, 19 Naughty III (1993) featured another crossover smash, "Hip Hop Hooray," which rivaled "O.P.P." as the national catchphrase of the early ‘90s. Their previously released albums: Naughty By Nature (1991 - platinum), 19 Naughty III (1993 - platinum), Poverty’s Paradise (1995 - gold), and 19 Naughty IX: Nature’s Fury (1999 - gold) have sold over 4 million copies combined.

Treach is often overlooked when people speak of mc's but this cat was lyrically on point in my opinion with a style that was his own. Was actually in attendance when they recorded the live version of O.P.P and Treach flip the H.P.P. (human pussy plunger verse) classic.

5. Just-Ice - A former bouncer at punk clubs, Joseph Williams, Jr. was the first of the New York rappers to embrace gangsta rap, and when he burst out of Ft. Greene, Brooklyn as Just-Ice, he gained instant notoriety. With a mouthful of gold teeth, he certainly stood out. His debut album Back to the Old School released on independent New York label Sleeping Bag Records, and certainly sounded like no other hip-hop album, thanks to his fast, forceful rhymes, DMX's human beatbox as well as the distinctive production of Mantronix's Kurtis MantronikWhen he was held by Washington, D.C., police regarding the murder of a drug dealer in 1987 ("Murder, Drugs, and the Rap Star" read a Washington Post headline), it gave him an even greater notoriety.
KRS-One stepped in to produce 1987's Kool & Deadly, an album that swapped Mantronik's hi-tech skills for raw, elemental beats and rhymes. The British and New York public that had so enthusiastically embraced Back to the Old School were diffident about this one, and 1989's The Desolate One (with KRS-One back in the producer's seat) was no great improvement. By 1990, both Just-Ice and Sleeping Bag appeared to be quickly fading as a new generation of rappers and labels overtook them. He continued to release albums at intervals across the 1990s, but they were on tiny independent labels and were rarely noticed.

6. MC Lyte - Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Lyte began rhyming at the age of 12, which eventually led to a single, "I Cram to Understand U," which led to a recording contract with the First Priority label. MC Lyte's debut full-length, Lyte As a Rock, surfaced in 1988, while a follow-up, Eyes on This, followed a year later. Both discs are considered to be the finest of the rapper's career, especially her sophomore effort, which spawned the hit single "Cha Cha Cha" (peaking at number one on the rap charts) and the anti-violence track "Cappucino." Lyte turned to Bell Biv DeVoe's writers and producers Wolf & Epic for her third release overall, 1991's Act Like You Know, a more soul music-based work than its predecessors and in 1993, issued Ain't No Other (the album's popular single, "Ruffneck," earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Single and turned out to be the first gold single ever achieved by a female rap artist).
Lyte may seem a bit odd because a lot of people know or credit her lyrical skill but I think that as a hip-hop community, we get so gender based that we only match female vs female mc and I am hear to tell you that I had the privilege if hearing Lyte early years and you know thatMC Lyte hangs with the big boys as a lyricist. Remember she was in an ERA before female mc got butt naked to rhyme or caught bodies like their daydreaming gangster mc counter parts. I recall seeing the Audio Two around 87-88 before Lyte drop her first album "Lyte as a Rock" (which is a begin to end play, remember when albums were that way no remix but the best shyt on the original recording damn I miss that)on Priority, and they use to bring Lyte up on stage but she was hooded out and baggy you couldn't really tell the gender, I didn't believe it was a female, most cats was saying that was Milk's little brother because she was just that lethal on the mic.

7.Stetsasonic/Daddy O - a member of Brooklyn's Stetsasonic formed in 1981 and were also among The group consisted of DJs "Prince Paul" Huston and Leonard "Wise" Roman, keyboardist/drummer/DJ Marvin "DBC" Nemley, and rappers Glenn "Daddy O" Bolton, Martin "Delite" Wright, and Bobby "Frukwan" Simmons. Daddy O and Delite founded the group as the Stetson Brothers, after the hat company, and began performing in New York hip-hop clubs, picking up other members along the way. Their debut, On Fire, was released in 1986, but it was the follow-up, In Full Gear, that brought them critical acclaim and an R&B hit, "Sally." 1991's Blood, Sweat & No Tears was considered by many to be their best and most diverse album, but Daddy O decided that they had run out of ideas and broke up the band.

8. Masters of Ceremony/Grand Puba- New York's Masters of Ceremony first drew attention with the single "Cracked Out," an anti-drug blast set to an "Atomic Dog"-style track. Led by the high-pitched Grand Puba (Maxwell Dixon), the trio explored the intersection of raggamuffin styles with more traditional breakbeat-based hip-hop, landing solid punches with "Sexy," "Master Move" and "One to the Knot."

I loved Puba before his put "Tommy Hillfiger" on the map days, and if you don't have the Masters of Ceremony 1988 album (Dynamite) you need to seek & find mission to cop that. I think the album was ahead of the game lyrics and production the title track moves head today like it did in 1988, Puba co-shared the stage with his cousin Dr.Who and occasionally guest spots from Don Barron (who did a collabo with Heavy D at one point) but Don was the first cat I heard spit that Diddle-Diddle-Dee shyt) and DJ Shabazz on the wheels of steel.

9.King Tee - One of the West Coast's pioneering rappers, King Tee (later known as King T) released a number of commercially unsuccessful albums in the late '80s and early '90s probably most recognize for his associated with the Alkaholics crew

I remember buying the 12" vinyl "Act A Fool"; I was in a record shop in Padova, Italy 1993, Still an east coast head in terms of Rap. Upon first glance of the album actually was thinking maybe this is ICE T little brother, at that time only west coast artist I had been exposed to. Purchased it on the strength of the album cover art (he looked like he was really ready act a fool with the damn 12 gauge and all).
Once I gave it the track listen, King Tee painted a picture of what a typical Friday night in LA might play out and that initially one me over. I have collected most of his albums and guest spots and still feel that King Tee is under rated as a lyricist, his ability to paint a picture positive/negative can't be over look.

10. Bahamdia- Bahamadia rose to prominence on the hip-hop scene as the female protégée of Gang Starr's Guru, and lent her smooth-flowing raps to a variety of projects during the late '90s, including several electronica and acid jazz artists. Born Antonia Reed in Philadelphia, Bahamadia started out DJing at local house parties in the early to mid-'80s, and soon stepped out front to prove her skill on the mic as well. She remained a presence on the Philly hip-hop scene, but didn't make her first recordings until hooking up with producer/radio personality DJ Ran, who helmed her independent 1993 single "Funk Vibe."
Another female that gets overlook I think because her clothes stay on but a silky style and quite a wordsmith in my opinion and could flip it hard or soft.

Soaring prices, long lines and outright shortages returned to Atlanta gas stations Wednesday for the first time since the 1970s.

Although both major gasoline pipelines serving the area resumed limited pumping Wednesday evening, many consumers already had reacted to widespread uncertainty and panicked. Afraid there would be no gas over the holiday weekend, motorists got in line to pay historically high prices.

Late Wednesday, Gov. Sonny Perdue declared a state of emergency and threatened to impose heavy fines on gasoline retailers who overcharged Georgia drivers. There is "credible evidence" of price-gouging, he said."When you prey upon the fears and the paranoia, it is akin to looting, and it is abominable," Perdue said at a hastily called news conference. "I'm frankly embarrassed for our state and some of our businesses that we have to do this."

Hey here is an idea, how about we name the next hurricane something that is reflected of the severity of the storm....no more Katrina, Ellen, etc but stuff like Hurricane Death & Destruction or Hurricane "Remove your trailer park from the map" or even Hurricane Rubin Carter you would know that your ass is in for a whupping!

Katrina, gathering strength over the warm Gulf of Mexico, threatened to strike land again as early as Monday after ripping across southern Florida and killing seven people. But forecasters were uncertain of exactly where it might strike, saying the storm could make landfall anywhere from the Florida Panhandle to Louisiana.
At Grand Isle, Louisiana's only inhabited barrier island, Mayor David Camardelle called on Saturday for a voluntary evacuation.

Most permanent residents of Grand Isle don't leave for storms, said Jeannette Gruboyianes (groo-buh-YAH-nees), owner of the Day Dream Inn.

"You have to have money to evacuate. If you don't have it, you ride out the storm," she said. "You know, at this juncture, all we can do is pray it doesn't come this way and tear us up."

Katrina was a Category 3 storm Saturday with 115 mph sustained wind and higher gusts.

With an impressive resume in rap that includes membership in the legendary Juice Crew (along with Marley Marl, MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, and Craig G) and a verse on the 1988 classic posse cut "The Symphony," Brooklyn's Masta Ace is truly an underappreciated rap veteran and underground luminary. Two years after "The Symphony," Ace released his debut album Take a Look Around on rap's version of the Motown label, Cold Chillin' Records. While not a huge commercial success the album spawned a hit single and video for "Me and the Biz" which popped up on many popular rap video shows in the late '90s for nostalgia's sake. The album has Marley Marl's keen production aura all over it and also features a guest appearance from the Biz himself.

Also A Brand New Heavies compilationm with live band/rappers collaboration featured one of my favorite Ace tracks "Wake Me When I am Dead"

Disposable Arts broods with anger, cynicism, and satire for the modern rapper bent purely on trend capitalizing. The paradox here is that Ace himself seems to seek and feels worthy of the same multimillion that he accuses his contemporaries of securing through less-than-artistic means.

The burden of underground respect that nets only underground sales seems to be the primary source of Ace's frustration. While smacking

On the same wave-length as "Good Ol Love" is "Beautiful," which instills more positive energy and remains on the "feel-good" tip as Ace delivers lyrical wit with lines such as: "I see a Black man raisin' his gun/but I'd rather see a Black man claimin' his son, say word!" "The Ways" is a gutter production courtesy of DJ Serious. Speaking on the issues and workings of the music industry, Ace informs that before one considers landing a gig in the game, he/she must learn the shady practices of the trade.

Towards the latter part of the album, "Omygod!" features The Beatnuts and Rahzel. Though this sounds like a funky Beatnuts loop, it's Xplicit who takes the credit for this heater. Alongside Juju and Pyscho Les, Ace kicks a suitable battle verse and further states that "even if I lose the battle, I'll win the war."

While the rumor mill has tapped Ace with the "retired" tag, if this is the Masta's last full length recording, he's doing so while being at the peak of his rhyming career. A Long Hot Summer is a mixture of nice production, honest emotion, thought-out rhymes and good ol' soul. Though he may have not have been the most talked-about member of the Juice Crew, Masta Ace will go down in history as having a long hot career and that doesn't apply to many of those whom he started out with.

Born Feb. 3, 1940 in Richmond, Va., Fran Tarkenton was an outstanding quarterback for Athens High School, Athens, Ga. He led Athens High to the state high school championship in 1955 and was selected to the All-State football, basketball and baseball teams in 1956.

In 1957, he directed the Georgia freshman team to an unbeaten, untied season and was selected to the All-SEC Freshman Team for his accomplishments.

After graduation from Georgia, Tarkenton played 18 seasons in the National Football League (Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants) and had set numerous NFL passing records when he retired following the 1978 season.

When he retired at age 39, Tarkenton had gained 47,003 yards passing and threw 342 TD passes as a professional. He holds NFL records with 3,686 completed passes and 6,467 attempted passes. Minnesota head coach Bud Grant called Tarkenton "the greatest quarterback ever to play the game."

Of course I remember my man from my favorite tv show That's Incredible A man who can squeeze himself into a tiny cube the size of a milk crate! That's Incredible! A young golf prodigy named Tiger Woods! That's Incredible! Some kids racing to solve the Rubik's Cube first! Okay, not so incredible but it too was on That's Incredible!

ABC's That's Incredible! was a one hour show hosted by John Davidson, Cathy Lee Crosby and Fran Tarkenton. Every week these three would introduce a variety of film clips and in studio guests all of which featured folks doing or involved with incredible things... or if they were hard up for stuff something as close to incredible as possible. The in-studio Rubik's Cube and video game championships really weren't all that spectacular.

The show was similar to NBC Real People only Real People was more concerned with funny oddball stories as opposed to That's Incredible!'s amazing stunts, touching human interest pieces and, of course, Pac Man tournaments. It also turned out to be very handy for ABC when TV writers went on strike. While every other show was crippled, That's Incredible was able to continue with new episodes.

The show was a big enough hit that ABC tried to spin off a companion show called Those Amazing Animals. Same sort of stories only this time it was monkeys solving Rubik Cubes. Okay, that didn't actually happen. The hosts for this show were Burgess Meredith (ironically well known for having played The Penguin on the old Batman TV show), Pricilla Presley (ironically the former wife of "hound dog" Elvis Presley) and Jim Stafford (ironically... he... uh... had pets...). Turns out those animals weren't all that amazing and the show bit the dust after a year. That's Incredible! joined it in 1984.

Then in 1988, a new version of That's Incredible! popped up on ABC with little fanfare. Incredible Sunday basically highlighted the same sort of stories as the original series. Where That's Incredible! aired in prime prime time, Incredible Sunday aired in the almost prime time Sunday at 7 pm spot. Because he was just so cool, John Davidson was brought back. Hahaha. Almost kept a straight face. His cohosts were replaced though. Christina Ferrare and Tracey Gold took over those spots while Cathy Lee and Fran were left to beg for government surplus cheese just to survive. Well okay, that's last part's not true either. But it would have made for an incredible story for the show. Incredible Sunday could've used a story like that. As it was, the show wasn't all that incredible. If it was, I don't think it would have gotten canceled after a single season... which it was.

WASHINGTON - Soon after Rafael Palmeiro collected his 3,000th hit, Rep. Jose Serrano quietly approached his congressional colleagues about drafting a resolution honoring the Orioles star's achievement.

Now the resolution is less likely than a triple play.
"I could always do it, but who would want it on the House floor?" Serrano, a New York Democrat and ardent baseball fan, said yesterday after learning Palmeiro violated the sport's steroids policy. "You're going to honor someone who is suspended?"

If members of Congress have any dealings with Palmeiro now, it may be to ask him whether he was deceiving them when he pointedly told a House committee in March that he never used steroids, then joined an advisory panel whose stated goal is "to address the growing problem of steroid abuse by youth."

Like other House members, Serrano reacted to yesterday's news with disbelief, sadness and anger. Serrano said, "I am tempted to believe" Palmeiro's explanation that a banned substance entered his body unintentionally, but that he didn't know the truth.
Said Serrano: "I wonder how Congress will react to the fact that I guess technically he lied to Congress. There might be questions."

Let me see if I get this straight professional liars, oops politicians take issue with Rafael at being dishonest during congressional hearings on steroid use? Give me a break Bush lies to you dummies everyday and yet you take offense to a baseball player?
The same Congress who watch Oliver North take a rap for illegal/unethical arms dealing with both Iraq/Iran (some of the arms are probably responsible for the rising death toll in Iraq as we blog!)and he applauds at the trail? Hey here is a thought instead of cleaning up baseball, how about we focus on the ever growing body count of US troops in Iraq?

The Jessica Lynch affair. A young woman serving in a support unit which took a wrong turn in Nasiriya and lost its way in the early stages of the invasion of Iraq, Lynch was captured in an Iraqi ambush that killed a half dozen of her comrades. Two weeks later, she was rescued by a special military extraction team that filmed its own exploit for propaganda purposes.

Every element of this story turned out to be untrue. Lynch was captured after her unit came under fire, but she herself never fired a shot, as her gun had jammed. Her injuries occurred when the vehicle in which she was riding crashed. The Iraqis, far from shooting or abusing her, pulled her from the wreckage and took her to the Nasiriya hospital, where she was well treated by doctors and nurses who saved her life. When the US extraction unit arrived to "rescue" her, they encountered no military resistance, as Iraqi forces had largely abandoned the city.

Pat Tillman, a professional athlete making a seven-figure salary with the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League, Tillman enlisted in the military several months after the September 11 terrorist attacks, along with his younger brother Kevin. Both qualified for the Army Rangers, one of the elite special forces units that were dispatched first to Iraq, where both Tillmans saw combat, and then to Afghanistan, to participate in the ongoing war with guerrillas loyal to the former Taliban regime.

On April 22, 2004, Tillman was killed in a firefight on a ridge in eastern Afghanistan. He was instantly hailed as a paragon of American patriotism and heroism, a man who not only sacrificed his life for his country, but even more impressively-at least in the minds of the Pentagon and its media propagandists-gave up millions of dollars to do so.

According to another report, published in the Los Angeles Times, the initial account of the "friendly fire" killing is also being challenged. The newspaper reported that the incident was not triggered by an ambush by Afghan guerrillas. Local Afghan police and militia commanders told the Times there was no ambush, only an explosion, either of a land mine or a roadside bomb. After the blast, the US soldiers panicked, assumed they were being ambushed, and opened fire wildly.

Mary Tillman told the Los Angeles Times, "I'm disgusted by things that have happened with the Pentagon since my son's death. I don't trust them one bit." She said the military had burned Pat's uniform and gear as part of the cover-up of the circumstances of his death. Patrick Tillman, Pat's father, said, "The investigation is a lie. It's insulting to Pat."

Dusted off an old classic track, from the now defunct rap group The Goats titled "Typical American", although recorded and released when Daddy Bush was president the last verse has a very haunting prophecy feel to it and rings so true today.Reviewed by many to be one of the best hip-hop bands of all time.

My contiuing saga to get JC Superstar, to realize the value of fly foot apparel, sure back in the day walking on water and curing the blind were cool to perform in sandals but with the emergence of cats like David Blaine and Criss Angel "Mind Freak" (who Tricey has a crush on or something of that nature) and the levitating and high-scale illusion not too mention update attire, then we needed a shoe makeover, and sandals are gay for dudes, I don't care how smooth you think they look or if your girl thinks your feet are cute, shyt is GAY.

So sticking with Adidas for the moment, I offer up these rare gems #007Y-3 (pictured below)is the designer sportswear label created by Yohji Yamamoto for Adidas. Another colloboration of by Adidas, These shoes are black leather uppers with green leather detail around the laces. The mesh lining is green as well as parts of the rubber soles. There is also black mesh and rubber detail on the outsides. On the tongue is a large Y-3 logo and Yohji Yamamoto is stamped into the green plastic on the velcro strap.

Adidas country (pic below) Black/White High Tops, release intially in early 70's and then retooled late 80's I brought 2 pair, White/Green #008, on vacation in Frankfurt Germany.

1987/88 season: With a young team led by Patrick Ewing and Rookie of the Year Mark Jackson the Knicks felt they needed a young energetic coach so they hired Rick Pitino who had led Providence to the Final Four. The move would work as the Knicks made a 14-game improvement finishing in 3rd place with a 38-44 record, which would get them into the playoffs as the 8th seed. However, in the playoffs the young Knicks would fall to the Boston Celtics in 4 games.

My beloved Knicks maybe this is the year right Larry? speaking of years, pair of vintage Ewing orion 1990-91 mustard/navy/gum.

The Ruler is Back

The master of storytelling raps, Slick Rick is best known for his smooth and humorous rhymes, unique accent, trademark eye patch, and tendency to drape himself with more jewels than Liberace. He first made waves as MC Ricky D alongside Doug E. Fresh on 1985's classic, double-barreled single "The Show" b/w "La Di Da Di." His 1988 debut album The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick, featured timeless hits like "Children's Story," "Teenage Love," and "Treat Her Like A Prostitute." Rick's flamboyant style and exceptional skills made him a huge star, but in 1990 he was incarcerated and ended up spending six years in the clink. While inside, he managed to record two albums, but both were somewhat lackluster and commercially ignored. 1999 he dropped an outstanding comeback record called The Art Of Storytelling.

Children Story is my personal favorite it uses what I believe to be a Bob James "Nautilus"-riff played one octave lower on a classic piano.

I remember watching this back in the day Rick was the last performer on the East Coast, and near the end of the track, when they are doing the classic "Knock em out the box Rick" he just starts telling his DJ Vance Wright to "Cut that shyt up Vance" lol (classic Rick the Ruler baby!)

Khalli-Vegas the 13th Disciple is Chosen

Not too be confused with the other 13th disciple "Rufus" from the 1999 cult favorite Dogma played by Chris Rock. Well ahead of Dogma's national opening in theaters,the picture came under a relentless and very public barrage of outraged condemnation by a noisy and tenacious Religious Right group called the Catholic League.

After careful consideration and weighing all options, I gladly accepted the position the other disciples seemed please with one exception, yep Judas the original "playa hater", nevertheless the task was a monumental one find something created of redeeming value of the world would be destroy like a modern day Sodom & Gormorrah

Having not kept up with my BIBLE studies(hip-hop, sneakers & madden series), I needed a reference, so ask if it where anything like the destruction of Black WallStreet.

The date was June 1, 1921 when "BLACK WALLSTREET", the name fittingly given to one of the most affluent all-BLACK communities in America, was bombed from the air and burned to the ground by mobs of envious whites. Upon entering the vault, I dust of my first gems to present to the King, they are a collaboration between Adidas & Ecko, usually not a fan of collabo's example Puffy & Nba (Dallas Mavericks Jersey), Puffy & any artist, on second thought maybe just not a fan of P.Diddy. Moving forward this joint venture of Old School/New School I like. ADIDAS, founded 18 August 1949 - named after its founder: 'Adi' from Adolf and 'Das' from Dassler.
Ecko Unlimited has grown to include 12 separate *ecko unltd. apparel and accessories lines, the contemporary Marc Ecko"Cut & Sew" collection, G-Unit Clothing Company, Zoo York, Avirex Sportswear, Complex magazine (circulation 325,000and a soon-to-launch video game in conjunction with Atari). Last year, alone, the full-scale global fashion and lifestyle company reported billings of over $1 billion.

Salesman sample Black High Top Pro Model, I purchased at an auction, the bottom picture is the final limited release to public. The sample pair my opinion are a sharper shoe void of the ecko logo and having "pro model" as oppose to "unlimited" written on respective sides of the shoe and the adidas name and logo on the tongue and heel.

Dig a little deeper and find 3 additional kings to showcase, 1986 Run DMC performs their hit My Adidas at a concert attended by Adidas execs, who were invited by DMC manager and hip hop mogul Russell Simmons. Initially reluctant execs promptly ink a $1.5 million shoe deal with the band and give them their own shoe line.

Imagine how many adidas you would ruin today stomping all these so called pimps? Anyway Adidas released the tribute sneaker in 2002 after the still unsolved death of my man JMJ. I grab both the black/white stripe and white/black stripe pair.

I didn't cop any of the Run Dmc's joints whe initially release 86, but my favorites from that era would be the blue/orange synthetic like texture Attidudes. I purchased these in 1992 in Dusseldorf Germany.
These shoes are often mistaken for are the Ewings, which were first-created 1986-87. Which I still have an original pair of NYC Knicks colorway (pictured below)then the company started making them in all flavors,purchased at Jew Man's, The Boogie Down Bronx.
Ewing went off and did his own thing in 1989 with his own signature line which I still have a mint condition pair pictured High Top white/white with Kriss Kross strap classic.
These shoes were listed as whack in the sneaker handbook book"Where'd You Get Those?" (a gift and a must read for sneaker kings)Bobbito but I felt they were classic just not pratical for b-balling.
Still not impress the 13th disclipe digs a little deeper and uncovers more salesman samples, this time adidas pro model navy blue/blue purchased 2000 France.

a few years back in Germany the concord was a clone of the Top Ten they use to have the fly patent leather ones. HIP HOP 101

After diging in the crates, I quickly pull out the heavy atilery, two undeniable hip hop classics, first up Ultramagnetic Mc's "Critical Beatdown", the first album by the legendary Ultramagnetic MC's. Lyrically the album seems a bit ahead of it's time, in 1988 mc's boasted about girls, cars,and big gold chains...hell they still do!!!! but Ultra inspired on some space/science, to be sure, but the production is equally forward-looking. My personal favorite cut "Ego Trippin"

Using nursery terms, at least not poetic
on a educated base, intelligent wise...

The above verse taken from "Ego Trippin", was actually a direct diss towards then Rap Heavyweights Run DMC,(Peter Piper)what set this record apart in its time was use of the production, specifically the sampler. This is a must have for any hip hop fan.

David quickly offered up the Microphone God first LP "Paid on Full" A gifted musician, Eric Barrier starting DJing in the early 1980s, and had acquired sufficient turntable skills by 1985 to land the coveted DJ slot on the WBLS-FM roadshow. Rakim met Eric at one of his gigs and a partnership was formed. They cut their first single, "Eric B For President", at Power Play studios in Manhattan in 1986 for the independent Zakia label, and following a move to Universal/MCA, they embarked on a seven-year recording career during which they released 13 singles and four albums.

Rakim was one of those responsible for changing this by perfecting the art of the written lyric."The R" was neither a battler, a freestyler, nor a "put-your-hands-in-the-air" master of ceremonies, he took his time to write a rhyme, and it showed. He specialised in the elliptical, spring-loaded rap-as-poem, delivered in the silky-steel voice of a gentleman criminal.
